What Should Be Considered in Kidney Transplantation?
Nutrition and Diet
Excessive weight gain should be avoided after kidney transplantation. Regular weight monitoring is essential. Sugar and salt should be avoided, especially in the early stages after discharge. An average of 3 liters of fluid should be consumed daily.
Exercise
Brisk walking is the most appropriate exercise method to begin in the early period after discharge. Strenuous exercise should be avoided during this period. If you are in good health, exercises such as swimming can be started after the sixth month.
Driving
It will be more appropriate for you to drive after the first month after discharge.
Alcohol
Alcohol is strictly prohibited after kidney transplant.
Smoking
Smoking is strictly prohibited after kidney transplantation.
Travel
There is nothing preventing you from traveling domestically or internationally after discharge. The most important thing to remember during your travels is to take adequate medication with you.
Sexual Activity and Reproduction
Sexual activity can be resumed starting three months after kidney transplantation. Pregnancy is not recommended for the first year after kidney transplantation. You can become pregnant in the following periods, provided you are under the supervision of your doctor.
Vaccinations
Administering live (attenuated) vaccines is strictly prohibited.
Pets and Plants
There is no harm in contact with vaccinated pets.
Gloves should always be worn when handling soil.
